4. Do I need a visa to visit China?
  A citizen of Singapore, Brunei or Japan with an ordinary passport is exempted from a visa if he or she visits China's mainland for tourism, business, or meeting with friends or relatives, and if he or she enters China through ports open to foreigners, and stays for no more than 15 days.

However, most foreign nationals are required to obtain a visa when entering China. There are a very few situations where no visa is required. For visa details, please refer to the website link(s) below:

The APEC Business Travel Card is a substitute of a multiple-entry visa valid for 3 years. A card holder who presents a valid passport whose image and biographic data exactly matches that on the APEC Business Travel Card can enter China multiple times during the validity of the card for a stay of 2 to 3 months for each entry.

For Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (港澳居民來往內地通行證) holders, please make sure your permit is valid during the whole visit period.

5. How will we get from the airport to the conference hotel/venue?

6. How do I book a hotel room?
  Unless otherwise advised in advance, your room bill for March 18th and March 19th will be covered by the Roundtable. You will be responsible for all other expenses incurred. You will be able to settle the payment with your credit card.

8. Who is attending?
  Participation is by-invitation only, and limited to 60+ scholars, scholar-practitioners, training managers, policymakers, and principals from 17 countries / territories in the region and beyond. Thus far we have received 60+ confirmations from China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia, Israel, Turkey, Chile, South Africa, Sweden, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
9. What are the goals of the Roundtable?
  Our goals for the Roundtable 2018 are:

To encourage regional and international education scholars and practitioners to come together to reflect upon understanding leadership as it is conceptualized and practices in different cultures.
To consider the principal’s role in teacher learning. This is important given what we know about the impact of teacher learning on student outcomes both in Asia and the west.
To continue discussion of issues around the complex job of conducting research across different cultures.
10. Do I need to write a paper for the Roundtable?
  We do not require participants to submit formal papers for the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2018, but we highly encourage you to submit formal papers for the Roundtable. Upon your permission, the APCLC and the Education Bureau of Jianggan District, Hangzhou, and the Institute of Schooling Reform and Development of The East China Normal University might publish them in e-conference proceeding and / or APCLC Monograph series.

We request that participants submit papers from 1,500 to 5,000 words in length. Topic should revolve around "The West Wind vs. the East Wind: Understanding Leadership for Teacher Learning". Please visit the Call for Papers of this site.
11. Will I make a presentation of my paper?
  Participants will not present their papers. The format of the meeting emphasizes interaction, not academic paper presentation.
12. When is my paper due?
 
If you choose to submit a paper, the schedule is as follows.

-The abstract is due on February 4, 2018.
-Draft paper is due on March 19, 2018, if possible.
-The full paper is due on June 30, 2018.
13. Will there be visual audio aids for presentation?
  For the Key Speeches, computer generated projectors will be provided.

During the concurrent and working sessions in Day 1 of Roundtable (March 19, 2018), whiteboard and markers will be provided. If you want us to print any handouts or poster for you, please send to us (apclc@eduhk.hk) no later than February 28, 2018.
14. What will be the weather in Hangzhou?
  The weather is still cool and damp in the first month of spring. With great temperature difference between day and night in Hangzhou in March, the average highest and lowest temperature are 14°C & 6°C respectively.

It is expected to have 138 mm of rainfall across the whole of March with 16 days with occasional rain falling. Remember to bring warm clothes such as a coat, thick trousers, a hat, gloves, and also an umbrella or rain gear since it rains often. You'll need waterproof shoes for walking in wet weather.
