Knowledge Transfer Support Scheme

Purpose

The APCLC announces the initiation of the APCLC Knowledge Transfer Support Scheme in the area of leadership and change. Its purpose is to facilitate the knowledge transfer of leadership and change research conducted by APCLC academics and fellows to practitioners in schools.

Operation
  • Up to 3 awards will be made annually in amounts up to but not exceeding HK$20,000 per grant.

  • We will support highly innovative KT projects to exchange knowledge, skills and/or technology arising from excellent leadership and change research. Priority will be given to projects with significant impact on enhancing leader learning, student outcomes and school improvement.

  • Proposals may be submitted at any time during the fiscal year (i.e., July 1 - June 30), and allocation of funds will be made on a rolling basis.

  • All decisions on funding will be made by a committee comprised of the Director / Co-Director and at least one Associate Director of the APCLC or their designees and are considered final.

Conditions
  • Since this scheme is intended to promote knowledge transfer of research conducted by Centre academics and research fellows to practitioners to school. Applications are limited to teams comprised of EdUHK and regional APCLC Fellows (i.e., including any of the Research, Senior Research, and Scholar-Practitioner Fellows). Qualified research teams must include a PI who is a full-time EdUHK APCLC Research Fellow or staff member, and at least 1 co-investigator from the Asia Pacific region who holds a current appointment as an APCLC Senior Research or Research or Scholar-Practitioner Fellow.

  • Eligible Forms of Project:
    • This scheme is designed to support the development of programmes, resources, and instructional tools that flow from research recently completed, or approaching completion, that is otherwise inadequately funded for KT purposes.
    • The scheme can also be employed to support a development project. For instance, this could take the form of translation and field testing of an APCLC development product or instructional tool. Intellectual property issues related to development products emerging from these funded projects must be clarified at the time of funding.
    • The proposed project should link explicitly to an ongoing or completed research or development project conducted by an APCLC Fellow or APCLC staff member.

  • Faculty may apply for an award in any amount up to HK$20,000 for a 12-month period. While a faculty member may not hold more than one APCLC KT Support Project simultaneously, there is no limit to the number of awards s/he may receive over time.

  • Eligible Use of Grant Funds:
    • Staff assistance in disseminating of project deliverables (e.g., Part time / full time Senior Research Assistant(s) and / or Research Assistant(s) and / or Post Doctoral Fellow(s) and / or project assistant(s) and / or student helper(s) to be employed by and serving at EdUHK, and / or assistantship by independent contractor(s), such as printing agent(s), translator, computer programme designer(s) to be invited by the EdUHK.
    • Production expenses including printing, translation, editing, rental of venue and other expenses associated with the dissemination of the knowledge to beneficiaries.
    • Local travel expenses incurred by the awardees for the purposes of conducting the study or disseminating its results.
    • General expenses
  • Note:
    • The funding support is provided for a maximum of 12-month.
    • The award funding may not be used for international travel or the purchase of equipment.
    • To streamline the functional monitoring procedure, the grant holder(s), under the monitoring of the Finance Office, are given the flexibility to make changes to the budgetary items as long as the items are legitimate expenditure items and the total expenditure is within the approved budget.
    • Funding may be used to supplement but not supplant other current funding (e.g., GRF, PPR, QEF, IRG, KT fund from the EdUHK etc.).

  • All products funded through this scheme must acknowledge APCLC grant support (e.g., Deliverables / Events that result from the funding support should note the contribution of the APCLC in the acknowledgement).

  • Upon completion of the project, the grant holders are required to submit a report to the APCLC within 3 months of the completion date of the project. The grant holders will be required to indicate in the report the achieved deliverable and beneficiaries arising from the projects. Eligibility for future APCLC funds will be contingent upon meeting or exceeding target on deliverables and beneficiaries.

  • Faculty who are unsuccessful in obtaining funding for their proposal may not submit proposals more than twice in the same fiscal year.
