10th Anniversary of Asia Leadership Roundtable

2019 marks the tenth year since the first Asia Leadership Roundtable (ALR) was held in Hong Kong in 2010. Under the theme of ‘The First Decade of Asian Research on School Leadership in a Global Context’, more than 60 international and regional researchers from 17 societies of five continents gathered in Guilin, Guangxi Province, on 10-12 March. The participants reflected on how the collective efforts flowing from the Roundtable have contributed to the international knowledge base of school leadership over the past ten years and what will be the major challenges facing regional researchers in the coming decade. The 2019 ALR was again organized and sponsored by the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC), the Faculty of Education and Human Development (FEHD), together with the Faculty of Education, Guangxi Normal University.

The Asia Leadership Roundtable is now firmly established as the premier forum for research in school leadership in the Asia Pacific Region. Publications from projects initiated through the Roundtable have had a significant impact on knowledge production and dissemination throughout the Region – particularly in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. Research outputs from the ALR network have enabled the APCLC to become the leading contributor to school leadership research in East and Southeast Asia and positions EdUHK as a key international player in the area.
